Andrew is sailing round the UK, from April 2023, solo and unsupported in a Laser dinghy.  He is the 'Shrink in the Drink'

After 35 years working in mental health, Andrew is taking a break to sail round the UK in his Laser, solo and unsupported.  He is following in the footsteps of Ron Pattenden and latterly Stick Daring, in completing this epic voyage - hence the 3.  The estimated 6 months of wind, waves and isolation, is going to be tough.

The journey is about raising money for good causes.  The three that have been selected are firstly Place2Be - the UK’s leading children’s mental health charity providing support in schools, reaching hundreds of thousands of children every year.

The second is for motor neurone disease - my uncle died of this terrible disease several years ago.  In 2020, I was saddened to bear witness to the gradual decline and loss of a friend from MND, Guy Lidbetter.   The MNDassociation focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by motor neurone disease

The third and final charity is the Andrew Simpson Foundation set up after Andrew Simpson's tragic and premature death.  The Andrew Simpson Foundation honours his memory by opening up the world of sailing and watersports to people, particularly young people, from all walks of life, changing lives, creating career pathways and providing opportunities that last a lifetime.

We all need a bit of support, and Andrew would really welcome a contribution to the charity that most  appeals to  you.  Links to all three pages are below.

You can track his progress on tack tracker cloud using the link below after April 10th 2023.   Or pop down to the shore for a chat, or even join the shrink in the drink, sailing along with his trusted H.M.S. Betty.
